I look forward to strawberry season every year, not only because they are delicious but
so good for you. We grew a ton of them on our little farm growing up. I miss those
super-fresh-still-warm-from-the-sun berries.
We like to add them to salads, desserts, and my favorite, homemade strawberry shakes.
The kids are hooked now too, I just wish there was a way I could make a shake out
of their veggies. This will have to do for now. Here is how I make my all-time
favorite strawberry shakes. If you have frozen strawberries, they can substitute for
fresh too!
Fresh Strawberry Milkshake Recipe:
In a blender, combine the following and blend until smooth:
One pint of natural vanilla ice cream (I use Breyer’s)
1/3 cup of milk
1 t. pure vanilla extract
2 T. sugar or Splenda
1/2 pound of fresh or frozen strawberries, stems removed
Blend well, and add a bit more milk if your milkshakes are too thick for your taste.
I like to pour mine in an old canning jar and use a fun straw, beats the drive-thru
any day!
Do you have a favorite strawberry recipe or a secret milkshake that you are willing
to share? Our Pretty Things Link Party starts at 5pm PST every Monday night and is
a great way to connect with other bloggers and DIY fanatics.
Hope you can make it!
