This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walmart for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Today is Giving Tuesday, which is a great time for us to focus our
hearts and thoughts on those who give to make our lives better.

Giving can be as simple as letting someone know that they are appreciated by doing
something kind for them.  Helping out a family in need, or donating your time at a
local food bank are a couple ways you can involve your kids and grand kids in the
spirit of giving too.  Kids are funny, if you watch them playing they don’t always want
to share.  But if you get them around others who share willingly, you see a spirit of
generosity blossom in them, and they get to see how fun it is too.

Mr. twelveOeight happens to be a Veteran, as well as a pretty sweet guy.  He did all
kinds of crazy things before we met, repelling from cliffs, jumping out of planes.
He lived in Korea for a while, and was deployed during Desert Storm.  His Dad is
a Vietnam Veteran as well.  They were both in the Army, and very proud to serve
our country.

Did you know that as many as 50% of our servicemen and servicewomen are parents?
That is a whole lot of families back home missing their loved one this Christmas.
I’m excited to share with you a wonderful way that Walmart is helping to support
military families nationwide.  Walmart has partnered with Operation Homefront and
Fisher House in support of our military families.  The impact is not only the obvious
absence of a loved one, but many times a large financial and emotional toll is taken
on the family. With the “Holiday Salute to Military Families” the hope is to ease the
burden with $2 million in grants for toys, meals, and lodging assistance to those
military families in greatest need this season. Join in our Holiday Salute to Military Families

To learn more about how you can salute military families this holiday season visit
Fisher House and Operation Homefront .
In the meantime, hug your loved ones, thank a Veteran, and let’s all do just a little
to make this holiday season a bright and hopeful as we can for each other.
