You need:
Large box of baking soda
A bottle of vinegar
A good, sturdy scrubber, rubber gloves and towels
Cover your oven door and bottom of your oven (racks removed) with a 1/2 inch layer of baking soda.
Pour vinegar over the baking soda so it fizzes and absorbs into the baking soda and let it sit about 30-40 minutes with the door open.

I've used a mix of baking soda and dishwashing detergent before but not vinegar. I'm going to have to give this a try…it seems to have worked a lot better than the other idea I tried. Thanks for sharing. 🙂 Megan

So. About 9 months ago I started canning. My first project was making a batch of cider jelly. Which boiled over, burned, and left a mountain of carmalized, burnt sugar on the inside of my stove top. I've managed to get a lot of it out, but not all of it. I'm going to have to try this and see if it makes a dent in the zombie sugar.

Hi Tanya, your oven door looks great! I'm going to try this today. We have a self-cleaning oven too, but every time we've used it, the thermostat quits working, so we have to get it repaired. So while the oven was getting cleaned on its own, it was costing a repair bill every time! You'd think we would have learned after the first time, but no, it's happened three times over
