Homemade Shamrock Shake

Before you wonder if I am a crazy Shamrock Shake fan, let me assure you, I am crazy about milkshakes in general.

And while I love to get a shake when we are out and about, it’s fun to make them at home sometimes too.  When my

kids see the hand blender come out they know that something good is about to happen.

We like to make mint shakes any time during the year, but this time of year we turn them green and wear our anti-pinch

buttons around long before St. Patrick’s Day.   I try to make the little moments special, and help the kids feel the adventure

and magic behind traditions and holidays.  It’s those extra little touches that don’t take very long, that they seem to always

remember.  So if a little green goes along way in my kitchen, I hope you enjoy these, and the shamrock magic is sprinkled

around your kitchen and home too.

Ok, let’s shake it baby!

Homemade Shamrock Shake Recipe

makes one large or two regular shakes

2 cups of good vanilla ice cream

1 cup of milk

6-8 drops of green food coloring

1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract

Blend ingredients well in a blender or with an immersion blender, top with whip cream and sprinkles if desired.

Enjoy!!
