If you are a food geek, and enjoy all forms of food geekery, today is for you friend!
I love learning about food, and finding new or better ways to incorporate healthy foods into our diets.
It’s almost back to school time here for us, and early, hectic mornings are on the horizon ahead.
What I love about this nutty, healthy grain, is that it keeps well for up to a week in the refrigerator once
you have prepared it. Yep, just a quick zap in the morning, some fruit, nuts, yogurt, you are set!
A few facts about steel cut oats, found via Prevention:
All forms of oats (the ones not in little packages full of sugar) are great for you. But if you are
concerned about the impact that foods have on your blood sugar, working on losing weight,
or maintaining a weight loss, this is the important info. The fewer spikes in our overall blood
sugar, the better. By removing refined sugar, processed foods & unhealthy carbs out of my
diet in the last 5 months I have lost 40 pounds. I have way more energy & my chronic pain is
under control as well. My take on this, I was killing myself with the wrong kinds of food.
I still wear a size 16, and would love to arrive at a size 12 by Spring.
I still cheat once in a while, because I love to eat and sometimes you just need ice cream!
At 5′ 11″, with my goal being a size 12, I would still be a “plus sized model” and I could care less.
I like the way I look and feel in that range, and at 43, and not in search of a modeling career.
So, here is one of my favorite foods (just had a bowl, topped with coconut milk, YUMMY!!)
