How to paint a refrigerator

Oh friend, I cannot tell you how fun this before and after were.

I always have a running list of things I want when thrifting and junking.

Do you keep a similar list?

Right now mine looks like this (probably pared down due to recent deep cleaning and getting rid of stuff we don’t need)

  • Good quality white curtains
  • 2 side chairs that need minimum work
  • Entry way table
  • Anything that looks remotely close to Ironstone
  • Pedestal base for new dining room table

There are little things too but those seem to be the items top of mind for upcoming projects.

And, this weekend I was able to take one off the “list” a refrigerator for my office at work!

We have a full size fridge in our work kitchen but it can get pretty full, and to be honest, I was so excited to think about a little fridge of my own full of water, salad and Diet Pepsi.

It’s the little things that bring some convenience to the day that make you feel a little pampered don’t you think?

We are working on renovating the house about 45 minutes away that Troy’s parents just bought, and on the way there are a few epic thrift spots.

We visited Habitat For Humanity this last weekend and there she was, in all her 1970’s wood-grain glory.

My new refrigerator, at $25 it was a good deal, especially considering a new model would run about $100 give or take.

I knew I did not want the wood-grain goodness to continue on, so we took the door off, masked each area we did not want paint on, and gave it a good layer of spray primer.

Allowing the primer to dry well, I decided an aqua and copper combo might be fun.

We used paint tape diagonally and painted the hardware and bottom half copper with spray paint.

Once that was very dry, we did the reverse, protecting the areas we already painted, and painted the remainder aqua.

Now she is under my desk at work chugging along keeping me well hydrated each day and loving my little gem we found.

The power of paint and a little work never cease to amaze me!

Have you or would you ever paint an appliance?

I would love to hear if you have done this before and what you did, the possibilities with all of the different types and textures of spray paint today are endless!

Thank you so much for reading, as always, may your heart and home be full of everything you love…
