This is a great idea. I've got an old lampshade in the garage that will be perfect for this.
I think you did a great job on this, how ingenious to use an old shade frame! I love how it turned out, and I have to pin so I remember I want to do something like this for our pool room. Fantastic!

So the secret is soaking in hot water to get the goo off? Seriously I thought that stuff was eternal, on the shades I peeled fabric off. I gave up. I will try soaking.
