Our house

Welcome to our Casa!

While my blog began in 2012, we bought our together home in 2018, a 40 year old mid-century modern home on 1/3 of an acre.  The home was structurally sound and some renovations were done.  But there was a long ways to go!

Here are a few of the things we have done:

We painted our house last summer, two different shades of grey with white accents.  It was tan with mint green trim before so quite a difference right away!

I love the lighter grey and dark grey next to each other.  A long ways from tan with mint green right?

We found this rug at a local thrift store and it was brand new, score!

A beautiful shade of blue-green for the accent wall above our bed in the master bedroom.  This macramé made it’s way to the front door for summer so I am on the hunt for something new for this wall.

In our front loving room we have a long wall with rotating art and this industrial glam car cart.  It started outdated and turned out so cool!

We sealed off the hall closet in our entry way and opened it up on the other side in the dining room, creating a pantry where there was not one before.  I love the tile so much we may use the same tile when we re-do the bathrooms.

The upper cabinets came down and we ran tile to the ceiling, and poured our own concrete counter tops.  That was a project but well worth it, we love them.

With the upper cabinets down you can see all the way into the front living room.

Light, bright and a mix of thrift store finds and refurbished things we come across.

We are still working on the outside covered patio (it’s HUGE) have a chicken coop to rebuild, and the bathrooms are circa 1978 so they will be getting a lot of attention this fall and winter.

And where it all began, my rental home that I made cosmetic changes to but never could really do any renovations.  So owning our home now is a dream come true, and I am so excited to share our journey with you!

Our last house:

This is our upstairs playroom, it’s a large bedroom above the garage that we use to house toys, and
entertain not only our kids, but their friends as well.  With a neutral background of grey walls,
and long white curtains we used accessories and funky upcycled projects to give it a fun laid-back
vibe.  The kids love this space, and I find myself hiding out with a cup of coffee here often too.

Check out how I made these Rag Rug Pillows for our playroom here.

Abbie’s Big Girl Bedroom Makeover took her room from toddler to big girl for less than $100.

We repurposed the furniture, used some hand me downs, painted, and added some DIY projects
and here is what we ended up with.  Yes, she LOVES it!

The yellow Euro shams were a Goodwill score, as was the small painting.

The dream catcher we made here, and the large floral picture is just pretty fabric

stretched over a large frame, easy!

The Herringbone Painted Wall was a super fun and easy DIY project,

and in her full room tour I show how I made some of the other things we used.

Our laundry room was featured in Good Housekeeping, it was a dark
room under the stairs in our home, with some paint, dress fabric and thrifty scores we
turned this space into a pretty place to fluff and fold every week!

Our boys share a bedroom, and their space is next for an
Industrial Shared Boys Room Makeover, it’s in the works now.

You will start to see some of the projects soon, and I hope to have the
reveal ready in a few weeks!!
