So, it’s almost Fall right?
Like, so close to Fall that a pretty, glittery wreath is totally necessary at this point.
I mean, when do we not need a new wreath, you know, never.
So, I am working (yeah on like 5 ongoing projects at the same time because we love
a challenge right?) on getting the front porch ready for Fall. I will be sharing a bit more
soon about how I did a super easy deep clean and lifted a layer of summer use and dirt
right off. But in between cleaning the porch, light fixtures, and making a few new pretty
things for my Fall porch decor, a wreath had to be the first thing that I finished.
An easy DIY wreath is the best wreath in my book, so I looked around and found an
awesome $1 wreath base from Dollar Tree, then headed to Jo-Ann’s for some paper
and glitter. With the paper being on sale this week 5/$1 and glitter tubes only .99 cents,
it was a super thrifty project. Here is what I used to make my Paper + Glitter Fall Wreath:
- Wreath base (easy to find at your local dollar store or craft supply store)
- 12-15 sheets of cardstock weight scrapbooking paper
- Gold & copper glitter
- Mod Podge
- Hot glue
- Scissors
Directions:
Begin by cutting leaf shapes out of your paper, and set aside. Once you are done cutting out
your leaves, use a CD case or something similar to bend and create the fold in each paper
leaf. Once you have finished prepping the leaves, brush a bit of Mod Podge, and shake coordinating
glitter over the end of each leaf.
Let the glue dry, and glitter set on the leaves (I left my green leaves without glitter) and begin
gluing them to the wreath base going all in the same direction. I used a small dab of hot glue on
the back of each, and started with green, working my way around the entire wreath. Next I begin
to layer in each color & fill in any bare spots with glittery leaves.
They are so pretty, I love the simple addition of glitter tipped leaves to give the paper a new
dimension.
I ended up using about 13 sheets of the cardstock I bought, and have a ton of glitter left over.
This wreath ended up being less than $5 to make since the base was only $1. I love that the
colors are perfect for early Fall decorating, but I can use it all the way through Thanksgiving.
Abbie’s room is almost done, I am just working on a fun gallery wall above her dresser,
some final touches. I hope to be able to share it with you next week if I can.
School is starting in less than 2 weeks, and I feel myself quickly running out of time to
get ready for structured days and early mornings again.
How do you usher in Fall every year in your home? Maybe it’s breaking out the crock pot,
stocking up up on baking supplies, or hanging some Fall garlands, I would love to hear what
your favorite ways to celebrate Fall are!!
Thank you so much for reading!!
Have a blessed & creative week-
