I am SO excited to share this quick and easy before and after with you today.

Sometimes a dramatic change is simple and does not involve any fancy tools or lengthy amounts of time to complete.

And sometimes…

With a little paint, and some dry time…

A beautiful swan emerges from a dark old piece of furniture that is tired and in need of a refresh.

I found this wooden plant stand/garden stool piece for $9.99 at a little thrift store locally that I have not been to before.

It was nice and solid and initially I thought I would make a padded seat for the top, I love the direction it went once the paint began to dry.

Admittedly, I do paint a lot of things white.  But with grey walls and our larger pieces of furniture being fairly dark, a fresh, crisp white gives a space a whole new feel.

I love this Chalky Finish spray paint by Krylon.  I used less than one can and it covered over this dark wood very well.

I decided to use a spray for this project since the lines were more complicated than a table or dresser and I am so glad I went this route.

I found some decorative upholstery nails at Jo-ann’s with a rusty brass looking finish that had a modern spiky look and thought they would add an interesting addition to the stool.

I measured all around and made a mark with a pencil then added the studs on each slat of the stool.

And that was it, paint and some upholstery nails, and I love this bright fresh little garden stool/plant stand piece so much.

I actually have put three different plants, a stack of book and a little brass bowl and probably 17 other things on it and they all look cute.

So it may very well be like the Chicken Sweatshirt in Rosanne years ago, at one point everyone in the show wears it and you never know where it may pop up next!

Good eye Tanya. You spotted a great piece at even a greater price. Love the addition of the studs. I’ve used those same ones on my jewelry cork board to fill in empty spaces with a little extra style.

For just $9.99, this garden stool was a steal! I like it much better in white for outdoor/porch use, and the brass studs add just the right amount of understated decoration. Great job!

Thank you so much Mimi! You are so sweet, and while I seem to paint everything white (at least according to my family) I agree the white completely changed it. Thanks so much for visiting and your lovely message 🙂

Currently it looks like WordPress is the preferred blogging platform out there right
now. (from what I’ve read) Is that what you’re using on your blog?

You actually make it seem so easy along with your presentation however
I find this topic to be actually something which I think I might by no means understand.

It sort of feels too complicated and very huge for me.
I’m having a look ahead for your subsequent submit, I will attempt to get the
    hold of it!
