Wood Slice Heart Shaped Wreath

Valentine’s Day is a mere six-ish weeks away.
So while I take down our Christmas decor, I can’t keep from thinking
about hearts, and Cupid, and sparkly pink things.
And conversation hearts.
Ok, chocolate too. You got me.

Now I just need to find the boxes for the ornaments.
And look at them once again, as I wrap them in tissue,
and pack them away for next year.
I always miss our Christmas decorations, even though I love to
regain a little control and kind of feel like I have my house back too.

We have had a house full of the sickies over the Christmas break,
so our New Years will probably be pretty low key.

But amidst the sniffles and snuggles while my little ones were resting,
I was able to sneak in a little crafting…

I used the following supplies:

  • 2 bags of wood slices from JoAnn’s (about 35 wood slices)
  • Hot Glue
  • Ribbon or fabric strip of your choice to hang wreat, and for a bow

I began by choosing my design first and arranging my wood slices in the pattern
that I would be gluing them in.

Next I connected them with dabs of hot glue in the over-lapping areas which
hides where they are connected.

Once I was done I tore a long strip of dotted red and white fabric (perfect for
Valentine’s Day) and used a bit of glue on the back of my wreath to secure the
fabric.  And added a pretty dotted bow with one more strip of fabric, a bit wider
than the first.

These can be made in any shape you can think of, and if you nab the app for your
phone or bring your coupons with you, the cost is less than $10 to make a pretty
wreath for Valentine’s Day.

Do you have a special recipe you make for Valentine’s Day or have a family tradition
that you do every year?

Very cute – I've never done anything with wood slices – I think I need to make a run to the craft store. Thanks for the great idea.
