When we bought our home 4 years ago it had new flooring but everything else needed work.
A LOT of work! ๐
Some areas we worked on right away and others we moved the furniture in and they worked for a while. But left me feeling less than inspired.
I have been craving color after years of light grey walls, I have been ready for a change. A big one!
My initial inspiration board for our dining room has taken some twists and turns. But by first creating a space for my thoughts it helped this design evolve, in the weeks to come I will share some of other other updated spaces and all of them are giving good tropical, modern Miami vacay vibes ๐
I am loving where what we arrived at, a warm, fun, vibrant space that is perfect for laughing with friends and sharing family time together.
First: paint, a bright mustard color that makes you want to turn some music on and dance! This color is called Lioness and the code # 0864 if you are into wild yellows ๐
Second: We took off the old base of the long wood table we built years ago and cut it down both ways. All with the old dark stain we sanded off, and this lovely fir can be seen now thru the natural finish.
Before we stained and sealed the table once more we used a dark epoxy in the spaces between the fir boards. New hairpin legs and everything was really coming together. So excited!!
I love how it turned out!
We chose these velvet dining chairs in a light grey from Amazon and this rug from Amazon too. I tried painting our old chairs but when the walls were done and the rug came in they just did not work.
Mega paint fail on the first chairs but oh well you gotta kiss a few frogs sometimes right? They were green too which really makes that funny ๐
I had very colorful curtains chosen for this space initially but when the paint dried and the rug arrived I wanted to let the bold accents have the stage!
I used my white dishes I already had, the black and ivory salad plates were a Goodwill find and the pretty ginko leaf napkin rings are Amazon. The sputnik semi flush mount light also Amazon, how would I decorate without them?!
Well, off to work on our family room and living room, just a fair warning, I hope you like PINK ๐
Thank you for reading friend! Stay crafty & until next time xo – Tanya
