Summer Master Bedroom glow up

Hey there!

This post has been weeks in the making and it just kind of sat while life got a little crazy and I had the pleasure of an emergency root canal.

I know, that was my reaction too. But, I am thankful for an excellent dentist and am on the mend so now back to our summer projects here at the house!

I always say that I will start making my bedroom a serene, happy, inspiring spot and it always seems to take a back seat to other projects. Why do we do that? Make everything else a priority but the space we recharge and decompress in?

Well no more, in between tooth aches and dental appointments we dedicated some time to a much forgotten space in our home. And boy am I glad we did.

I have put a much more deliberate focus on self care and taking good care of the body and mind in the past year, and our spaces should reflect that self care!

We had a really pretty dark teal color on just the accent wall behind the bed before, and I was ready for something different. I still love the teal but it was time to switch it up.

So we went with this lovely dark charcoal on all three walls (the other wall houses a teeny desk where I work and is up next for some love!) and made our space pop with some new finds and a few redo’s.

The floors will be next as we have carpet in the bedrooms from when we bought our home in 2018 but I am looking forward to having hardwoods throughout someday soon! But for now I decorate around the carpet and things that I want to work on someday.

The headboard was a total deal at Habitat for $10 I was not sure what I would do in this space so it stayed major dark-brown-90’s-style for a few months until inspiration struck. We painted the walls, hung our lights back up and I shopped our house for a few things that needed to be moved around anyways.

See the grouping of baskets? They are a bundle of those paper plate holders that I found at a local thrift store!

Some fresh bedding and a few new pillows, some vintage macrame’ from Goodwill, and our eclectic, cozy boho bedroom was coming together.

And PLANTS of course….

The TV even looks better with a dark backdrop, and a few trips thrifting scored new vases, and of course some pampas grass.

I love giving a space a fresh new feel, and when it’s a fairly thrifty glow up that does not hurt either!

Some fun painted pots and hanging lanterns, I love the way they stand out against the dark wall!

I’m excited for us to get on the road too and do some RV’ing with the weather getting nicer and school almost out but I will be happy to come back home to this space for sure 🙂

Do you have some summer projects or are you taking a break and playing this summer? Either is a fabulous option!

Thank you as always for reading, I appreciate you so & happy June!

xoxo, Tanya
